OpenProxy End User License Agreement

Version 1.0 — Effective 2026

PLEASE READ THIS AGREEMENT CAREFULLY. BY INSTALLING OR USING OPENPROXY ("THE
SOFTWARE"), YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS BELOW. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, DO
NOT INSTALL OR USE THE SOFTWARE.

1. WHAT OPENPROXY IS

OpenProxy is free software that lets a group of invited, consenting people form
a private peer-to-peer overlay network and share a pool of internet "exits".
When you connect through the network, your traffic may be carried by other
members who have chosen to volunteer their connections. Networks are private
and invite-gated: you join only with an invite link from someone you trust.

2. LICENSE GRANT

The Software is provided free of charge. You may install, run, copy, and share
unmodified copies of the Software for personal or internal use. You may not
remove or alter copyright, license, or attribution notices.

3. HOW THE NETWORK WORKS — AND YOUR CONSENT

This section is the most important part of this Agreement.

3.1 Using the network. When you connect through an exit or a relay, your
traffic is forwarded by other members who have explicitly volunteered their
devices. In return, the network only works because participation is mutual and
voluntary.

3.2 Sharing your connection is OPTIONAL and OFF BY DEFAULT. Installing or
running the Software does NOT turn your device into a relay or an exit. The
Software will NEVER carry other people's traffic through your device unless you
take a deliberate action to allow it:

    (a) you explicitly enable "Share my connection" (relay) or "Act as an
        exit" in the app, AND
    (b) you complete the separate one-time consent confirmation.

Until you do both, your device only sends your own traffic and never relays or
exits anyone else's. You may turn sharing off again at any time, and it stays
off across restarts unless you re-enable it.

3.3 No silent enrollment. We do not, and this Software will not, conscript your
device into carrying third-party traffic by virtue of installation, of
accepting this Agreement, or of any default setting. Consent to relay or exit
is always a separate, explicit, revocable choice.

4. IF YOU CHOOSE TO BE AN EXIT OR RELAY

You are never required to share your connection. If you choose to:

4.1 Relay. As a relay you forward encrypted traffic between other members. A
relay never sends member traffic out to the public internet under your IP
address, and cannot read the traffic it forwards.

4.2 Exit. As an exit, other members' traffic reaches the public internet from
your internet connection and under your IP address. You understand and accept
the risks this carries, including that activity you did not perform may appear
to originate from your connection. You may set exit policies to limit what is
allowed, and you may stop being an exit at any time. Do not enable exit sharing
on a connection where this is prohibited or where you are not comfortable with
these risks.

5. ACCEPTABLE USE

You are responsible for your own traffic and for complying with all laws that
apply to you. You agree not to use the Software to:

    - break any applicable law or regulation;
    - infringe others' rights, or send unlawful, harmful, or abusive traffic;
    - attempt to deanonymize, attack, overload, or disrupt the network, its
      members, or third parties;
    - circumvent the consent controls in Section 3 or route traffic through any
device whose operator has not opted in.

Network and exit operators may set and enforce policies, and may remove members
who violate these terms.

6. PRIVACY

The Software is designed to learn as little about you as possible.

    - A coordinator stores the minimal directory information needed to connect
members (such as public keys, self-reported network addresses, and a
virtual IP). It is not designed to log the contents of your traffic.
    - Peer-to-peer traffic is encrypted in transit between hops.
    - A member who carries your traffic could, like any network operator,
observe some metadata about a connection it handles. Multi-hop routing is
provided to reduce what any single member can see; no system can promise
      perfect anonymity.

Use the network accordingly and at your own discretion.

7. NO WARRANTY

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY
KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. THE
AUTHORS DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR
ERROR-FREE, OR THAT YOUR TRAFFIC WILL REMAIN PRIVATE.

8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS OR
CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL,
EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE
SOFTWARE OR ITS USE, INCLUDING DAMAGES RESULTING FROM TRAFFIC CARRIED OVER THE
NETWORK, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE
POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

9. TERMINATION

This Agreement applies for as long as you use the Software. You may stop using
and uninstall the Software at any time. The disclaimers in Sections 7 and 8 and
your obligations in Section 5 survive termination.

10. CHANGES

Future versions of the Software may be accompanied by an updated Agreement. The
Agreement you accepted applies to the version you installed; continuing to use a
newer version means accepting the Agreement that ships with it.
