Get an invite
A friend who already runs an OpenProxy network sends you an invite link. Networks are private and invite-only.

Install the app
Download the native installer for your OS and run it. One click launches the control panel in your browser.

Paste the invite, pick an exit (or let it auto-select the fastest), choose how many hops you want, and connect.

Share — if you want
Optionally flip on “Share my connection” to help the network. It’s off by default and always your call.

Good questions
Is OpenProxy really free?
Yes. The software is free, the networks are run by you and your peers, and you can host your own coordinator. There’s no subscription.
Is this a VPN?
It’s closer to a private, invite-only overlay network with a built-in proxy. You get a local SOCKS5 proxy and can route through multiple hops to a pooled exit, which gives VPN-like benefits without a central provider.
Do I have to share my connection?
No. Sharing (acting as a relay or exit) is completely optional and off by default. Installing the app never enrolls you — you’d have to turn it on yourself and confirm consent.
Who can see my traffic?
Traffic is encrypted between hops. A peer carrying your traffic can see some metadata about the connection it handles — which is exactly why multi-hop routing exists, so no single peer sees the whole path. No system can promise perfect anonymity.
How do I get into a network?
Someone who already runs a network sends you an invite link. You can also stand up your own coordinator and invite friends.
